Customize Your Assistant (Advanced Settings)
Once it's answering, you can shape how it looks and behaves. Open the assistant's configuration screen — the settings are grouped into tabs, and each tab covers one kind of decision:
- General / Identity — name, title, avatar, welcome message, and the input placeholder. What visitors see first.
- Behaviour — the system instructions it follows: tone, language, and rules like "only answer from our content; if unsure, say so." This is the single biggest lever on answer quality.
- Search — how much of your dataset feeds each answer: the top matching results (the default), or the full dataset as context.
- Security — who may load it: None (public), API (a key), or OIDC (your identity provider). This is also where allowed origins live.
- Appearance — theme, colors, layout, and the floating button.
- Hints · Translations · Forms — starter questions, extra languages, and lead-capture fields.
Change one thing, then test
Every change takes effect where visitors can see it. Make one adjustment, try it in the playground, and only then publish. Small, explicit behavior rules beat long prompts — see Configure Assistant Behavior.
