Handle Blocked URLs
Some URLs simply can't be captured — Seekdown blocks categories like certain government, social, or marketplace domains, and anything that shouldn't be scraped. If you hit one, here's how to get moving again.
Before You Start
- Read the blocked-URL message the app shows you.
- Decide whether that URL is really essential.
Steps
- Read the blocked-URL message carefully — it tells you which URL was rejected and the category it falls under (for example, social media, marketplace, or government).
- Re-check the URL you entered. A typo or redirect may have landed on a domain that's blocked even though the content you wanted is elsewhere.
- Remove any blocked URLs that aren't essential to your dataset.
- If the content is available on an alternative, allowed domain, use that URL instead.
- If the blocked URL is genuinely needed for your use case, contact support to discuss whether a custom capture path is possible.
Verify the Result
Once every blocked URL is removed or replaced, the creation form accepts your configuration and lets you start the job normally.
Troubleshooting
- Don't try to work around blocked categories by altering the URL — the block applies to the underlying domain, not the specific path.
- Some sources genuinely can't be captured safely or legally, and Seekdown won't override those restrictions.
