Product Catalog Assistant

A catalog assistant helps visitors explore and compare products — like a knowledgeable store clerk who knows every item on the shelf. It works well for e-commerce, SaaS pricing pages, or any site where visitors need help picking the right option.

Dataset

Fill it with product descriptions, specifications, pricing, and comparison tables. Tag items by category (e.g. "laptops", "accessories", "plans") so the search can narrow down by topic. Include FAQs about products if you have them.

Behaviour Instructions

You help visitors find the right product.
When someone describes a need, suggest matching products from the catalog.
Always include the product name in bold, the price, and a direct link.
If no product matches, say so honestly — don't invent features or products.
When comparing products, use a short table with the key differences.
Keep answers concise — highlight the best match first, then alternatives.

Search Settings

  • Full context: on if your catalog is small (under ~100 products). Off for larger catalogs.
  • Max results: 8–10 (enough to catch alternatives, not so many that it rambles).
  • Show highlighted results: on — reference cards become product cards that visitors can click.

Hints

  • "Help me find a gift under $50"
  • "Compare your subscription plans"
  • "What's new this season?"
  • "Which laptop is best for video editing?"

Appearance

Match the look of your store. If the site uses a dark theme, start with the dark base theme. Use a floating button with "Find a product" or "Ask me" as the label.
