Create a Search Center
Creating a search center takes a name, a link and a dataset — the content it searches must already exist.
Before You Start
- Have a memory dataset with real content in it. A search center searches one
dataset, and you choose it at creation. See Build a knowledge base if you don't have one yet.
Steps
- Open Search Centers from the dashboard menu, then choose Create new search center.
- On the New search center page, enter a Search center title — it's shown as the
page title and as the main heading above the search box.
- Optionally add a Logo to show on the masthead.
- Under Public link, set a Link name. This is the readable, decorative part of
the address (…/search/srch-…/your-link-name); the page is found by its own id, so it needn't be unique and you can change it later.
- Under Dataset, pick the memory dataset the search center should search over.
- Choose Create search center.
Verify the Result
The search center opens in the dashboard. Use Open public page to see it exactly as visitors will, run a query you know the answer to, and confirm the cited documents look right.
Start from the home quick-create
The dashboard home also offers a guided Create your search center flow that can create the dataset for you and walk you through a first crawl — handy when you're starting from nothing.
Troubleshooting
- Create is greyed out — a required field (title or dataset) is still empty.
- Trial limit reached — on a trial you get one search center, a slot separate from
your assistant: "Trial accounts can only have one search center. Upgrade your subscription to create more."
