Clean or Delete a Dataset

Two different actions, easy to mix up: clean empties a dataset but keeps the container; delete removes it entirely. Reach for clean when you want a fresh start, and delete when you're truly done.

Before You Start

  • Check whether any assistants or jobs still use the dataset.
  • Export it first if you want a copy.

Steps to Clean

  1. Open the dataset from Memory datasets.
  2. Open the actions menu (the three-dot menu on the dataset page).
  3. Choose Clean dataset. A confirmation dialog warns that all content items will be removed.
  4. Confirm. Seekdown empties the dataset — every content item is deleted, but the dataset itself, its key, and any connected assistants or data capture jobs remain in place. You can start filling it again immediately.

Steps to Delete

  1. Open the dataset from Memory datasets.
  2. Open the actions menu.
  3. Choose Delete dataset. A confirmation dialog warns that this action is permanent and may also remove assistants and data capture jobs that depend on this dataset.
  4. Confirm only if you're sure — there is no undo.

Verify the Result

After cleaning, the dataset page still exists but the contents area is empty and the content count resets to zero. After deleting, the dataset disappears from the Memory datasets list entirely.

These can't be undone

Neither cleaning nor deleting can be reversed from the UI, and deleting can also remove the assistants and jobs tied to the dataset. Export first if in doubt.
